Hounds Town USA launches Hounds Town Radio on local talk station

Hounds Town Radio, hosted by retired commercial dog trainer and canine handler Michael Gould, launched today on local talk radio station 103.9 F.M. Long Island News Radio. The show-which will focus on dog behavior, training, general care, grooming, medical and veterinary care, rescue and charity dogs, franchising, and the often difficult decisions in caring for an elder, sick, or disabled dog-will air every Saturday at 3 P.M.

The guest line-up includes local veterinarians, rescue groups, world-renowned animal behaviorist Dr. Temple Grandin, Hounds Town franchisees, shelter directors, and other in the pet industry to discuss various dog-related topics to provide listeners with insightful information about their own dogs.

Michael Gould is the owner of Hounds Town USA and has worked with dogs most of his life as a trainer and handler. Realizing the need for quality day care when pet owners are unable to be home for their canine family members, Michael embarked on a solution…and so was born Hounds Town USA in Port Jefferson Station. Now, there are locations in Ronkonkoma and Farmingdale, as well and Hounds Town USA has become a franchise.

Gould is a nationally recognized expert in the field of Police Canine Training and the use of Scent Detection Dogs in private industry. Michael is certified by the Bureau of Municipal Police as a Police Canine Trainer and Evaluator or Police Working Dogs. Mike began his dog training career in 1983 as one of the first police canine handlers in the New York City Police Department. He later transferred to the Nassau County Police Department, and as Lieutenant, commanded their prestigious K9 unit. Michael is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He has traveled throughout the world studying Police K9 programs. Immediately following the terrorist attacks on 9-11, Mike was deployed overseas with the United States Navy and was assigned as a Technical Observer for the USN Military Working Dog Program. Mike has appeared on numerous radio and television programs, and has testified as an expert witness in the field of canine deployment and dog bites. Mike was also co-owner of a Canine Scent Detection business, which provided explosive and narcotic detection dogs to private industries.
