Becky Ridenour is a PAWS-itively Perfect Match for Hounds Town!

Growing up, Becky Ridenour had the opportunity to learn firsthand what it takes to own and operate a business. “This kindled my fascination with business operations and also peaked my desire to eventually own a business,” says Becky, whose father owned a pharmacy.

Becky spent nearly 30 years working for the United States government — primarily with the Department of Defense as a Contracts Manager and Business Operations executive. During that time, the Indiana native was able to hone her business skills and gain valuable experience, but all the while, she longed to follow in her father’s footsteps and enjoy the independence that owning her own business could provide.

While conducting an online search for businesses for sale, Becky discovered Hounds Town USA, our doggie daycare franchise that’s committed to giving dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds, and abilities the most satisfying doggie daycare experience possible. “What caught my eye about Hounds Town USA was their cohesive branding/marketing message, consistent eye-catching colors, and simple approach to letting dogs be dogs in a safe environment,” she recalls.

Becky learned that Hounds Town USA was founded by former NYPD and Nassau County Police canine handler Mike Gould. With over 40 years of canine handling experience — combined with a genuine admiration for dogs — Mike wanted to transform the doggy daycare industry for the better. In the years since, Mike and his CEO, Jackie Bondanza, expanded the business by creating a nationwide franchise model. Franchising makes it possible for animal lovers like Becky to open a franchise and welcome dogs into their friendly and affordable facilities, where services such as daycare, boarding, and spa services are offered.

Before making her investment and deciding to become a doggy daycare Franchise Owner, Becky participated in Hounds Town USA’s Discovery Day — a day dedicated to allowing the Executive Team to meet potential Franchise Owners and vice-versa. When she met with the Executive Team, Becky liked how “personable, confident, and approachable” they were, and she appreciated how they provided helpful information and answers to all of her questions.

Becky notes that she was also impressed by the proven tools and systems that Hounds Town USA’s franchise model provides in order to help Franchise Owners start and grow their businesses. The simple and straightforward business model works well, she adds, and it’s nice to know that she can consistently rely on the Executive Team for advice, encouragement, and support. “As with most things in life, you have to put in time and a lot of effort in order for something to be successful,” Becky says. “Knowing I have support from the Hounds Town USA team when I need it makes me feel confident that I can thrive in this industry.”

Becky recently opened her doggy daycare franchise in Dayton, Ohio. Just like her father, Becky is now owning and operating her own business, and it’s one that she considers to be the perfect fit for her and her family.

Like our other dog daycare Franchise Owners throughout the country, Becky ultimately felt called to invest in a franchise on account of her fondness for animals; she grew up on a small farm and has loved animals ever since she was a child. “I remember reading James Harriot’s All Creatures Great and Small series as a kid,” she says, “and I thought about becoming a veterinarian until I helped dehorn a steer.

The whole process still plagues my nightmares and squelched any desire to go to veterinary school. As an adult, though, I am surrounded by animals. I get a lot of satisfaction from knowing I help them live their best lives. They enrich my life as well.”

At home, Becky owns quite a few pets: two dogs, a cat, and two guinea pigs. Plus, she has two aquariums and two koi ponds. As a Hounds Town USA Franchise Owner, Becky can now maintain an ideal work/life balance, which means that she can give her love and attention to not only all her pets at home, but also all the special dogs who visit and stay overnight at the Hounds Town USA facility in Dayton. Plus, she still has time to dedicate to her three biggest hobbies: reading, gardening, and fishkeeping.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that Becky has such a big heart; she’s determined to use her franchise in Dayton as a tool to help connect people with local dog and animal charities. It’s encouraging to know that Becky wants to make such a positive change in her community.
