Hounds Town USA’s newest pet franchise owner is Trevor Tiner and he couldn’t be more excited about this new chapter of his life.
He was kind enough to sit down for a quick interview about his past career experiences and what led him to choosing Hounds Town USA dog daycare over other franchise brands.
- What is your personal/professional background?
Professional: I’m a salesman. I sell Dealer Management Software to Auto Dealerships.
Personal: I’m a husband of 22 years to my high school sweetheart having married as just teenagers. We have two kids, a girl (15) and a boy (12). I have 2 dogs, a Golden Retriever named Daisy and a German Shepherd named Zara. Technically, just the Golden is mine and my daughter is quick to remind me that the German Shepherd is hers.
- What are your personal hobbies or interests?
Hobbies: I like going to the gym, traveling, food, bar-b-ques, hiking, paddle boarding, gardening, sun-bathing/relaxing by the beach, swimming, and spending time with my kids doing their hobbies and interests.
Interests: Sports, technology, pets and wildlife.
- How did you first learn about Hounds Town USA dog daycare franchise?
My wife had just opened a math and reading franchise, and I had decided to begin looking at potential franchisees for myself but only semi-seriously. I was browsing a list of top franchises when my wife called and told me she was struggling to find anywhere to take the dogs for boarding. I immediately searched for dog daycare and boarding franchises and came across Hounds Town.

Hounds Town semi-absentee ownership allows me to continue working while building an eventual way out of corporate life and into franchising. I also liked the idea of working within my local community with dogs and fellow dog lovers.

I liked that approval day was a transparent look at the doggy daycare franchise and focused on answering our questions. I liked that we had access to so many key team members to ask questions and interact with.
- Did you have a particular “A-ha” or “Lightbulb” moment that made you want to franchise with Hounds Town USA?
I probably didn’t have any one “A-ha” moment, but one key moment was when I first looked at the financials. I remember thinking, wow, this is a real business opportunity. I was shocked because the opportunity just checked some boxes that I was initially skeptical about.
- Why did you want to become an entrepreneur?
For me, it is a way to have a vested interest in the community, the people, and the local issues. When I realized the local entrepreneurs were the movers and shakers, the shapers of the community, I immediately decided that I wanted in.
- What do you think will make you successful?
I think success is where hard work meets opportunity. I think my drive and ambition with the support and expertise of Hounds Town Dog Daycare Franchise is a formula for success.

I like the pet industry in general, but what sets Hounds Town apart is how ready they are for growth, given the age and experience of the company versus its current footprint.
- What has been the best part of your experience with the Hounds Town USA corporate team so far?
Discovery Day has been the best experience with the corporate team so far. It was an opportunity to see their passion and energy up close. We had already seen it in the videos and phone calls, but seeing it up close and personal made it that much more real.
- What advice would you give to a potential Franchise Owner?
Don’t be scared to make that leap, but do your due diligence and make sure you are truly ready.
- How important are dogs/pets in your daily life?
Our dogs are part of the family and enrich every aspect of our daily lives. They always have something to offer in every situation, whether humor with their silly antics, barking to alert us, or comforting us with a cuddle. They are always involved and make life that much better.
- What do you look forward to about owning your own Hounds Town USA dog daycare franchise?
I look forward to the people. I look forward to mentoring employees, meeting the customers and their owners, and engaging with my fellow Townies!
