Hounds Town USA has been a popular destination for dog owners since its inception in 2001. It didn’t start franchising until 2015, but has opened 17 different franchise locations since then. Now, the pet care franchise is looking at another location for its 18th store; Spartanburg, South Carolina.

“Spartanburg is an emerging city,” said Michael Gould, founder of Hounds Town USA. “It’s just a natural place for our next place to do business.”

Gould elaborated on this point, saying the Spartanburg is a great location because many other business owners want to establish franchises in South Carolina. People who are knowledgeable in franchising opportunities, such as FranNet consultant Cathey Petkash, agree with this, and acknowledges South Carolina as an emerging market for Franchise Owners due to population growth and increasing demand for businesses.

“Lots of folks are moving here from Ohio, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania — number one because of the weather,” Petkash said. “Some folks [who moved away] have roots in South Carolina and decided to come back because they see opportunities and growth.”
